NANDANi’s village

NANDANI is 13 years old, she is currently in 6th Grade. Her mother, Shanti is a home maker and her father Kallu is a farmer. She lives in a small agricultural village called Shravasti in Uttar Pradesh.

Her attendance for school is 100%, she is a good student. She shows significant improvement in life skills (17% to 50%) and financial literacy (0% to 50%), with digital literacy at 100%.

The after school sports program is not her favorite, her attendance is around 86%. She participated in multis sports classes, learning fundamentals of speed, endurance, strength, and agility. .She did not participate in athletics events and prefers familiar activities, needing encouragement to explore new ones

Through Project Nanhi Kali, she receives her required school supplies for the year, alongside life skill education such as digital literacy, financial literacy, critical thinking and communication, and an after school sports program, ultimately preparing these girls for a seamless transition from the classroom to higher education and the workplace.

She is also provided with a drawstring bag, clothing, socks, and shoes. Additionally, she is provided with an annual supply of feminine hygiene products, which significantly supports her confidence and dignity in being a girl.

By supplying her with essential school provisions, fostering a positive environment to education and sports, she is provided with the daily necessities she requires to participate fully in her education, this greatly helps encourage parents to allow their daughters to complete high school having removed the burden of financial responsibility. In turn it helps prevent child marriage, illiteracy and child labour.
