MEENAKSHI PRAJAPATI

 

MEENAKSHI PRAJAPATI is 13 years old, she is currently in 7th Grade. Her mother, Reeta Devi works in agriculture as a day laborer and her father is unknown. She lives in a small agricultural village called Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.

She does not attend school regularly, her attendance is very low at 64%. As her mother needs to work, her attendance is poor due to her need to help with household chores. Her grapples with digital literacy, showing no improvement, but her financial and life skills during school assessments has improved by 50%.

Meenakshi however enjoys the extracurricular and Sports Skills attending 93% of the program. She is currently an intermediate and participates in more than 50% of activities, prefers familiar activities, and needs encouragement to try new ones. She participates in

the 'Toofaan Games Village Level' event; applying her fundamental learning of speed, endurance, strength, and agility in a local community sports event.

Through Project Nanhi Kali, she receives her required school supplies for the year, alongside life skill education such as digital literacy, financial literacy, critical thinking and communication, and an after school sports program, ultimately preparing these girls for a seamless transition from the classroom to higher education and the workplace.

She is also provided with a drawstring bag, clothing, socks, and shoes. Additionally, she is provided with an annual supply of feminine hygiene products, which significantly supports her confidence and dignity in being a girl.

By supplying her with essential school provisions, fostering a positive environment to education and sports, she is provided with the daily necessities she requires to participate fully in her education, this greatly helps encourage parents to allow their daughters to complete high school having removed the burden of financial responsibility. In turn it helps prevent child marriage, illiteracy and child labour.
