SAPNA

 

SAPNA is 14 years old, she is currently in 8th Grade. Her mother, Pramila is a home maker and her father Bablu works as an agricultural day laborer. She lives in a small village called Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.

She is a good student and has a good attendance record. When she joining Nanhi Kali she had no digital, financial or life skills,  today her digital literacy has increased to 50%, her financial literacy went to 100% and her life skills is at 50%.

Sapna attends about 95% of her after school sports program, she is currently mastering her multi sports program, she participates in all activities in sports class eagerly trying activities that are both familiar and new to her. She is an intermediate at Individual sports and Soccer. As an intermediate in Individual sports Sapna participates in weekly football team trainings; applying her fundamental learning of football including passing the ball, controlling the ball, dribbling, and shooting in a community team event.

Through Project Nanhi Kali, she receives her required school supplies for the year, alongside life skill education such as digital literacy, financial literacy, critical thinking and communication, and an after school sports program, ultimately preparing these girls for a seamless transition from the classroom to higher education and the workplace.

She is also provided with a drawstring bag, clothing, socks, and shoes. Additionally, she is provided with an annual supply of feminine hygiene products, which significantly supports her confidence and dignity in being a girl.

By supplying her with essential school provisions, fostering a positive environment to education and sports, she is provided with the daily necessities she requires to participate fully in her education, this greatly helps encourage parents to allow their daughters to complete high school having removed the burden of financial responsibility. In turn it helps prevent child marriage, illiteracy and child labour.
